We are not an ordinary translation agency! This book translation service is managed by me, Miriam Neidhardt, a graduate translator from Germany. I am also your only contact person for all your novel translation needs. Over the past years, I have translated more than 15 books from English into German for publishing houses and self-publishing authors, and I am quite familiar with how things work best. With this book translation service, however, I confine myself to the organization as well as the editing or proofreading of the translated books.

If you would like to have your novel translated from English into German, please contact me for an individual offer. Please send me your book right away, preferably in an editable format. I need to be able to count the pages/words/characters and get an idea of the writing style and genre in order to estimate what the translation will cost and how long we will need for translation, editing and proofreading.

If you like my quote, I will choose the right translator for your book. You will know who works on your book and, if necessary, you can also contact them directly to clarify any questions they may have about the text. All of your translators are German native speakers, live in Germany, and are experienced in literary translations. If you agree with my choice, you will receive an invoice for the down payment of 50% of the agreed total amount.

As soon as the payment is received, the translator will start working. I will contact you as the author at irregular intervals with updates so that you can rest assured that everything is going according to plan. Once the translation is complete, either I will begin editing it myself, or I assign another professional editor, depending on the genre of your work and my time. After editing, the translator receives the text for approval, and then the book will go through proofreading. If I have done the editing, another service provider will do the proofreading, otherwise, I proofread the novel. And then we are done! You will receive a checked and flawless German version of your book, which you can publish exactly as it is without fearing negative reviews due to slanted wording. Upon delivery of the finished German book, you will receive the final invoice for the remaining 50% of the agreed total amount, to be paid within 14 days.

It is as simple as that! Should a translator drop out during work, I will take care of a replacement immediately. You don’t have to worry about anything and can put your energy into your next book. That’s a promise!

The German book market is enormous. After all, German ranks 12th on the list of the most spoken languages in the world. German is not only the official language in Germany, but also in Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Belgium. To almost 100 million people worldwide, German is a native language— and 1.7 million of them live in the USA. 289 million people around the globe have learned German at some point in their lives.

The book market in Germany is one of the largest and most vibrant in the world. When it comes to translations of literature, German is the record holder; more than 350 thousand books have been translated into German, twice as many as into English. In most translations of novels and other books into German, the language of origin is English.

Self-publishing is booming not only in the United States but also in Germany. From 2015 to 2019 alone, the number of new releases per year doubled and now exceeds that of traditionally published titles. The most popular genres are Contemporary Fiction, Mystery & Thrillers, and Romance.

Germans love literature and movies from both the U.S. and England and although English is taught as early as elementary school and many Germans have a decent knowledge of English, their English skills are often not sufficient to read novels in English. Reading books translated into German and watching dubbed movies is something completely normal in Germany.

By translating your self-published book from English into German, you gain access to a massive new market. We are a book translation service from English into German—which always includes editing and proofreading.
